apparently something took out all three def nodes, not the connections but the servers themselves.
nice hattrick, and once more a proof of the concept of federation....
seems like i have some kind of fuckup in the configuration of the php-fpm service of def2 and def3, def4 had another problem that i need to investigate first.
nothing a reboot won't cure....cough....but really annoying. it showed in the past sometimes, but seldom, but now with increasing traffic on all nodes it seems to become a real issue....damn...

anyway, we are back.

Did it crash or stall the web server, or crash the whole machine(s)?

def4 was fully out, but it was a misconfiguration on my part which should be resolved by now. for def2 and def3 it was the php-fpm service.
